JOB SUMMARY
The Department of Transport appointed Taxi Recapitalisation South Africa to create and execute
commercial solutions that will enhance the financial sustainability of the minibus taxi industry.
We are looking for a Project Manager – Infrastructure and Retail responsible for leading the implementation of projects associated with establishing and managing various infrastructure projects within the PMO. The types of infrastructure are sea-container, refurbished minibus taxi spare parts retail centres and 24-hour taxi servicing and maintenance centres. This may include additional configurations as the project portfolio within the PMO increases. The role reports to the Head of Projects.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Implement the portfolio of approved projects based on the PMO’s project pipeline and manage the project implementation lifecycle utilising best-practices.
- Ensure proper stakeholder management: Engage and build a credible relationship with the minibus taxi industry to deploy the agreed upon projects.
- Coordinate and manage the project’s cross functional team and external subject matter experts as required from time to time.
- Identify and specify the type of infrastructure to support the project’s requirement having conducted the required location assessment and feasibility analysis.
- Activate the establishment of the retailing infrastructure with service providers where appropriate.
- Oversee and take accountability for all aspects of the infrastructure establishment of retail sites i.e. equipment, security, point of sale, retail stock, replenish stock process, sourcing of stock from suppliers, distribution centres, distribution logistics, human capital, cash management, setting of retail prices, etc
- Assess and determine the nature of the product mix for retailing to the designated clientele, each product mix must be targeted to the site and specific location.
- Utilise site/ location specific factors and variables, market research, and stakeholder knowledge and insights to inform and determine sales strategies.
- Oversee the setup, optimisation and overall operational management of the central distribution centre, managing demand forecasting, ensuring timely availability of retail spares for each site-specific product basket.
- Implement warehouse management systems, with inbound/outbound logistical procedures.
- Continuously monitor all sites for daily performance and implement stock takes as required, and liaise with PMO and relevant external stakeholders
- Draw monthly reports of performance from the various sites and implement corrective actions to boost sales where appropriate
- Establish, manage and implement all policies and procedures to ensure a smooth project deployment and ensure continuous alignment with programme goals and objectives
- Escalate risks and challenges to the PMO Head for intervention and support
Minimum requirements
- Matric/Grade 12
- A bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Business Management, Built Environment, Business Administration, Engineering or Project Management, would be advantageous
- Experience in the automotive parts sales and, or vehicle servicing industry is a requirement
- Experience in managing automotive part sales or vehicle servicing premises, and point-of-sale solutions
- Solid project management implementation track record
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office & other software systems
- Proficiency in English is required, fluency in African languages is advantageous
