Over R1 billion has been availed for the taxi industry to stay on the roads beyond the Covid-19 pandemic. The Taxi Relief Fund is now extended until 30 November 2024.

 

TRSA has been appointed as the implementation agent of the Taxi Relief Fund, on behalf of the Department of Transport.

Qualifying Criteria

To qualify for the Taxi Relief Fund, a taxi operator must:

  • Be a South African citizen or a permanent resident in the Republic of South Africa.
  • Be in possession of a valid operating license, or a receipt as proof of application for renewal of an operating license.
  • Must have proof of a tax number.
  • Must have been operating as at 26 March 2020, prior to the commencement of the national lockdown.

Required Documents

The following documents, not older than three months, will be required from the taxi operators to qualify for the Taxi Relief Fund:

  • Certified copy of ID or proof of business registration.
  • Proof of residence.
  • Stamped bank account letter.
  • Proof of tax number.

The above documents must be emailed to trf@taxirecap.co.za. The subject of the email should be the applicant’s ID number or business number.

To Apply

The following are the options that taxi operators can use to access the Taxi Relief Fund:

  • Visit https://trf.transport.gov.za for the online self-service application.
  • Chat to a Taxi Relief Fund Call Centre Agent by calling 0860 159 159 (during operating hours from 8am-5pm weekdays).
  • Send a Whatsapp message to 083 458 5518 for a Call Centre Agent to call you back
  • A physical application at one of our Mobile Application Centres, as per the schedule posted on the TRSA’s website (www.taxirecap.co.za/trf) and the Department’s website on (www.transport.gov.za).
  • A physical in-person application at one of our provincial offices, as indicated in the table below:
