JOB SUMMARY
The Department of Transport appointed Taxi Recapitalisation South Africa to create and execute commercial solutions that will enhance the financial sustainability of the minibus taxi industry.
We are seeking a Procurement Officer/Buyer to ensure the distribution centre maintains sufficient stock levels
to replenish various sales centres and to maintain optimal stock levels across all sales centres. Inventory/stock
control is critical. The role reports directly to the Project Manager.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Procurement & Sourcing
- Identify, evaluate, and select reliable suppliers for automotive parts and consumables.
- Source both OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) and aftermarket parts as required.
- Obtain and analyse quotations to ensure cost competitiveness, quality, and lead times.
Purchasing Operations
- Issue purchase orders and follow up on deliveries to ensure timely supply.
- Negotiate favourable terms, including pricing, credit, and delivery schedules.
- Monitor supplier performance and address issues related to quality, delays, or discrepancies.
Inventory & Stock Control
- Work closely with the stores/warehouse team to ensure optimal stock levels.
- Forecast demand based on usage trends, service schedules, and market conditions.
- Reduce obsolete or slow-moving stock through effective procurement planning.
Supplier & Market Management
- Build and maintain strong supplier relationships.
- Stay updated on industry trends, pricing fluctuations, and new product availability.
- Conduct periodic supplier audits to ensure compliance with standards.
Administration & Reporting
- Maintain accurate records of purchases, pricing, and supplier agreements.
- Ensure compliance with company procurement policies and ethical standards.
- Prepare regular reports on cost savings, supplier performance, and procurement activities.
Minimum requirements
- Diploma/Degree in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Logistics, Business Administration, or related field.
- Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in procurement or parts buying (preferably within the automotive sector).
- Strong technical knowledge of automotive parts and components (OEM & aftermarket).
- Experience using ERP systems/procurement software.
- Valid driver’s license.
