Taxi Relief Fund
The Taxi Relief Fund was implemented to support qualifying operators and help the industry stay on the road beyond the Covid-19 pandemic.
Qualifying Criteria
- Be a South African citizen or a permanent resident in the Republic of South Africa.
- Be in possession of a valid operating license, or a receipt as proof of application for renewal of an operating license.
- Must have proof of a tax number.
- Must have been operating as at 26 March 2020, prior to the commencement of the national lockdown.
Required Documents
The following documents, not older than three months, will be required from the taxi operators to qualify for the Taxi Relief Fund:
- Certified copy of ID or proof of business registration.
- Proof of residence.
- Stamped bank account letter.
- Proof of tax number.
The above documents must be emailed to trf@taxirecap.co.za. The subject of the email should be the applicant’s ID number or business number.

The following are the options that operators can use to access the Taxi Relief Fund:
Visit https://trf.transport.gov.za for the online self-service application.
Chat to a Taxi Relief Fund Call Centre Agent by calling 0860 159 159 during operating hours from 8am to 5pm weekdays.
Send a WhatsApp message to 083 458 5518 for a Call Centre Agent to call you back.
Submit a physical application at one of our Mobile Application Centres as per the schedule posted on the TRSA website and the Department’s website.
Submit a physical in-person application at one of our provincial offices.

How do I apply to access the Taxi Relief Fund?
Operators can apply online via https://trf.transport.gov.za, contact the call centre on 0860 159 159, send a WhatsApp message to 083 458 5518, or submit an application physically at a mobile application centre or provincial office.
How do I know if I qualify?

Can I apply in person?
Yes. You can apply in person at the listed TRSA provincial offices or at mobile application centres where available.
What is the pay-out if I have an operating licence for passengers for reward that was valid as at 26 March 2020 and I did not participate in the first cycle?
If you or your company exists on the Department of Transport database and you meet the qualifying criteria, you are entitled to R7 200 per operating licence.
What is the pay-out if I have an operating licence for scholar transport that was valid as at 26 March 2020 and I did not participate in the first cycle?
If you or your company exists on the Department of Transport database and you meet the qualifying criteria, you are entitled to R7 200 per operating licence.
If I received a pay-out in the first cycle, can I re-apply for a top-up amount?
Yes, but your application will be automatically processed. If any of your personal details have changed, contact the call centre to update them and receive support.

Project Closure
