Application Types

Identify your particular type of application and prepare the correct supporting documentation before submission. TRSA uses different documentation requirements depending on the nature and category of your application.

Documentation requirements

Documentation by application type

Every application type is built on the standard operating licence documentation requirements. Where your application falls into a special category, additional documents are required and some applications may take longer due to operations committee approval.

Standard Application

Standard Operating Licence (OL) Application: Documentation Requirements

  • Application Form completed
  • Banking Details Form (original)
  • Identity Document (certified copy)
  • Valid OL (original and certified copy)
  • Motor Vehicle Registration Certificate (certified copy)
  • Stamped Bank Statement (original) or a letter from the bank stating all banking details on a bank letterhead (original)

All certified copies, stamped and dated bank statements must not be older than three (3) months. Only original and/or certified hard copies of documents will be accepted. Physical submission of documents only. Electronic copies will not be accepted.

Deceased (Late estate) Application

Additional Documents Required

  • Identity Document of executor/authorised representative (certified copy)
  • Identity Document of deceased (certified copy)
  • Death Certificate of deceased (certified copy)
  • Letter of Executorship/ Letter of Authority (original)

Business Application

Additional Documents Required

  • Identity Documents for each member/director (certified copies)
  • CIPC documents of CK1 / PTY document (certified copies)
  • Letter(s) on company letterhead from members/directors authorising the representative (original)

Trust Application: documentation requirements

Additional Documents Required

  • Identity Documents for all Trustees (certified copies)
  • Letter of Authority notarising the Trust and Trustees (certified copy)
  • Letter signed by all trustees nominating an authorised representative (original)

Vehicle replacement Application: documentation requirements

Additional Documents Required

  • Permit or OL on a prior issue that has the OTV details (certified copy)
  • Operating Licence on the latest issue that has the NTV details (original and certified copy)
  • Motor Vehicle Registration Certificate of the OTV (certified copy)
  • Motor Vehicle Registration Certificate of the NTV (certified copy)

Burnt Vehicle Application: documentation requirements

Additional Documents Required

  • Fire Department Report / SAPS report confirming event (certified copy)
  • Pictures of: vehicle interior; vehicle exterior (all sides); vehicle engine number; vehicle chassis number (electronic/ hard copy)

Accident vehicle Application: documentation requirements

  • SAPS report confirming event (certified copy)
  • Pictures of: vehicle interior; vehicle exterior (all sides); vehicle engine number; vehicle chassis number (electronic/ hard copy)

Can I apply for the scrapping allowance when a taxi operator or owner is deceased?

Yes, provided certain additional requirements are met.

Why do we need to complete a TRSA Power of Attorney Form?

A Power of Attorney form is used in instances where a taxi owner is unable to apply in person. The Taxi Owner then gives authorisation to their representative to apply on their behalf through the Power of Attorney Form.

Can I apply for the scrapping allowance with a permit?

No, provincial authorities will no longer verify permits. Visit your local authority to convert your permit.
