JOB SUMMARY
The Department of Transport appointed Taxi Recapitalisation South Africa to create and execute
commercial solutions that will enhance the financial sustainability of the minibus taxi industry.
We are looking for a Project Manager – Sales & Business Development to lead the project/s marketing
process to the minibus taxi industry and related stakeholders, including funders. Must be able to gather and
analyse related industry market intelligence and be opportunistic to maximise projects’ uptake within the
industry. The role is reporting to the Head of Projects.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Create and maintain an updated master database of the minibus taxi industry Associations, leadership structures and key contact details
- Create and maintain a consolidated minibus taxi industry activity calendar to plan project sales pitching opportunities in line with existing activities
- Create and maintain a project pitching approach, with a presentation and follow-up customised project proposal contractual templates, etc.
- Execute the project sales pitch with accuracy, efficiency and a high level of emotional intelligence to ensure appropriateness whilst taking cognisance of the required decorum and protocols
- Create and maintain a project sales database with ongoing progress tracking and detailed follow-up actions required
- Liaise with the PMO Head and the rest of the Project Managers to create accurate, realistic and pragmatic project deployment agreements and manage the client’s expectations
- Continue to lobby and maintain the appropriate momentum to convert sales leads into signed agreements
- Manage the project handover to the relevant Project Manager for implementation, with a high-level awareness of deviations/risks that may occur
- Identify opportunities to up-sell/on-sell additional value-add projects to an existing client and follow the sales pipeline approach
- Create and be the custodian of a library of organised minibus taxi industry market intelligence, which must be dynamically kept updated, for ease of reference upon request
- Ensure that the implementation/continuation of projects aligns with programme goals and objectives
- Manage the ‘marketing’ portfolio for the PMO, which may include the strategic messaging, content, deployment mediums and media to market the PMO’s services to the minibus taxi industry and other stakeholders where appropriate
- Manage the creative marketing team (in-house or outsourced) with clear direction and insight into the overall body of work
- Create and maintain a database of potential project funders and lead the action plan to secure potential project co-funding
- Actively engage with potential funders and present funding opportunities
- Manage the new ‘funding’ opportunities lifecycle from ‘cradle to grave’, with the relevant Project Manager who is responsible for the project implementation
- Escalate risks and challenges to the PMO Head for intervention and marketing support
- Ensure proper stakeholder management and build a credible relationship between PMO and the minibus taxi industry as a whole.
Minimum requirements
- Matric/Grade 12
- Proficient in English and at least 5 African languages
- A bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Business Management, Business Administration, or Sales and Marketing
- Proven working experience in a sales or consulting role within a project management environment
- Solid organizational skills, including attention to detail and multitasking skills
- Strong work knowledge of Microsoft Office & other project management software systems, i.e.- MS Project, etc.
- Must have own transport
