JOB SUMMARY
The Department of Transport appointed Taxi Recapitalisation South Africa to create and execute
commercial solutions that will enhance the financial sustainability of the minibus taxi industry.
We are looking for a Project Bookkeeper. The successful incumbent will be responsible for recording and maintaining the business’ financial transactions and implementing the Company’s accounting systems, policies and processes. The role reports firstly to the Finance Manager and then to the Project Management Office Head.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform all projects activities related to the accounts payable function including issuing of purchase orders, preparing and / or reviewing of supplier reconciliations and processing of payments,
- Perform projects account receivable functions including invoicing and collections,
- Prepare and / or review petty cash reconciliations,
- Prepare monthly VAT Reports for TRSA and related companies where required,
- Perform monthly General ledger accounts reconciliations,
- Perform General ledger and subsidiary ledger reconciliations,
- Prepare monthly projects management accounts and other projects reports as required by management from time to time,
- Maintain accurate and complete Fixed Asset Register and perform a Fixed Assets Reconciliation and process monthly depreciation,
- Compliance and enforcement of mandated finance policies and internal controls
- Compliance with all TRSA policies and procedures,
- Interpret and apply accounting policies, rules, and regulations to all work to ensure compliance with applicable laws and standards,
- Monitor TRSA long and short-term liabilities and commitments,
- Maintain Masterfile information to ensure it is valid, accurate and complete,
- Participate in year-end audits and other reviews including BEE or similar, and
- Finance documentation filing, maintenance and control
Minimum requirements
- Grade 12 / Matric Certificate
- Tertiary Qualification in Accounting / Bookkeeping
- 3 to 5 years of experience in a similar role
- PASTEL Accounting System or similar
- Advance Value Added Tax knowledge and its application
- Proficiency in Microsoft excel and word software
- Generally Accepted Accounting Principle
- General ledger Maintenance and Reconciliations
- Having a Driver’s License is strongly recommended
