A PILOT PROJECT

TAXI INDUSTRY RETAIL REWARDS

This pilot project is a rewards loyalty programme within the retail value chain of the MMTI which aims to unlock partnerships with retailers in order to deliver value to the MMTI.  One of the key features of this project is to put money back into the hands of minibus taxi owners and drivers via a retail loyalty points scheme.

Certain popular products which are purchased for the mechanical maintenance of minibus taxis by owners and/or drivers, were specifically selected,  and include at this stage products from GUD and NGK. TRSA went through a process of identifying and partnering with existing retailers based at strategic locations nationally and selected a few partner retailers that have stores in close proximity to existing taxi ranks and routes. These locations are based in Limpopo, Gauteng, Kwa-Zulu Natal and Eastern Cape.

Once the taxi driver/owner is issued with their loyalty card, they can then purchase pre-qualifying products at a participating retailer, in order to accrue 1% of the retail price into their e-wallet, which they can redeem at their next purchase.

The piloted project will be active for a period of up to 6 months and its success is dependent on the scale of uptake within the industry.

TRSA thanks its participating product and retail partners in enabling and supporting such a pilot project. For further information on the TRSA Retail Rewards Loyalty Programme, contact our national Call Centre Agents.

The pilot project is fully funded, and project managed by the TRSA.
